By Brian Anthony Hernandez ET, just 12 hours after they premiere on HBO. Rather than requiring fans to watch live during Sunday's two-part premiere or forcing them to catch up using its HBO GO subscription service, offering the episodes for free on YouTube is one way the network is courting the show's active online fan base. HBO decided to "be social first" with the way its marketing team released announcements, taking advantage of "emerging platforms" such as Tumblr, Instagram, Vine and even Snapchat , as well as social giants such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube.
HBO Is Putting First Episodes of 'Girls' Season 3 on YouTube
Jeff Jensen March 25, at Grant, Patti LuPone, Louise Lasser among them — to play toxic-influence devil-tempters to our protagonists, badgering them to dubious, self-destructive action or debasing self-conception. Since these storylines dominated the season from beginning to end, I would say season 3 was a success. Doing so only exposed how poorly scaled and nourished those arcs were, such as they were. It also exposed that Girls has a dwindling amount of imagination for Jessa, Shoshanna, Marnie Allison Williams , and Ray Alex Karpovsky , or is simply stuck in the protracted second act of its life as a series, with nothing more to say about these characters except the last thing it has to say about them. Which, ironically enough, just might be the entire point of the series. Will Hannah take control of her destiny, put her grubby-fab Manhattan life on hold — if not give it up altogether — to pursue her dream?
Meanwhile, Shoshanna is finally offered a job which would require her to relocate to Tokyo. Scott begs her not to go saying he will "be in love with [her] soon". After being pestered for his approval, Ray snaps and tells Desi that he hates him, and that he will never be good enough for Marnie. Later as a possible result, Desi does not show up to his and Marnie's showcase debut and she performs solo to great applause.
