Majority of anti-cancer drugs are delivered through parenteral route for reasons like severe toxicity, lack of stability, and poor enteral absorption. Current DNA targeting drugs in clinical like anthracycline suffers from major drawbacks like cardiotoxicity. Here, we report identification of a new orally active small molecule curcumin-triazole conjugate CT-1 with significant anti-breast cancer activity in vitro and in vivo. CT-1 selectively and significantly inhibits viability of breast cancer cell lines; retards cells cycle progression at S phase and induce mitochondrial-mediated cell apoptosis.

Peipins, Lucy A; McCarty, Frances; Hawkins, Nikki A; Rodriguez, Juan L; Scholl, Lawrence E; Leadbetter, Steven Studies suggest that both affective and cognitive processes are involved in the perception of vulnerability to cancer and that affect has an early influence in this assessment of risk. We constructed a path model based on a conceptual framework of heuristic reasoning affect, resemblance, and availability coupled with cognitive processes involved in developing personal models of cancer causation. From an eligible cohort of 16 women in a managed care organization, we randomly selected women at high, elevated, and average risk of ovarian cancer and administered a questionnaire to test our model response rate Path analysis delineated the relationships between personal and cognitive characteristics number of relatives with cancer, age, ideas about cancer causation, perceived resemblance to an affected friend or relative, and ovarian cancer knowledge and emotional constructs closeness to an affected relative or friend, time spent processing the cancer experience, and cancer worry on perceived risk of ovarian cancer. This final model 1 demonstrated the nature and direction of relationships between cognitive characteristics and perceived risk; 2 showed that time spent processing the cancer experience was associated with cancer worry; and 3 showed that cancer worry moderately influenced perceived risk.
The Politics of Lesbian Pornography: The following paper was developed into a conference talk on the subject of censorship and sex education in schools. The anti-censorship, feminist critique of pornography provided the basis for a discussion of the debilitating effects of censorship on sex education programs and materials.
Swinstead, Erin E; Paakinaho, Ville; Hager, Gordon Reprogramming of the chromatin landscape is a critical component to the transcriptional response in breast cancer. Effects of sex hormones such as estrogens and progesterone have been well described to have a critical impact on breast cancer proliferation. However, the complex network of the chromatin landscape, enhancer regions, and mode of function of steroid receptors SRs and other transcription factors TFs , is an intricate web of signaling and functional processes that is still largely misunderstood at the mechanistic level.
